In the marsh

The Marais (it means marsh) has always been the Jewish district of Paris, and there are still signs of that, but mostly it's an eclectic area. We had lunch at a cute cafe after tooling around the covered arcades of Place des Vosges and Victor Hugo's house, which overlooks the central garden. While having afternoon coffee at Place Beaubourg we watched a gorup of police stop and search a young man. After patting him down (smiling and laughing the entire time) they actually had him lower his pants to his knees while they searched his boxers! Pedestrians went by without batting an eye.
Horse meat anyone??????

Still the Jewish district

Not baguettes - can you guess what these are???
