Politics

Paris is a city of politics as well as fashion, and over the last few weeks the news has been full of talk about tomorrow's vote on gay marriage. There have been posters and flyers everywhere, and on Sunday there was a huge rally for the "Non" side. We missed the action, but saw lots of people dressed in pink and baby blue, the colours of the "Non" faction.  A metro ride to the Trocadero, though, and we were in another world. The sun shone, and the view of the Eiffel Tower was breath-taking. We sat at the terrace cafe of the Museum of Man and sipped wine and gazed out at the scene. Then we walked for a few minutes and found another cafe with a view of the tower. We had lunch there - with wine of course! A stroll back along Avenue Montaigne brought us past all the designer showrooms and posh hotels, and the very nondescript Canadian embassy stuck right in the midst of them.  We sat in the sun at the Tuileries gardens and watched the crowds. So sad to see Saroj leave tomorrow.
